STRATEGIC CONSULTING AND ADVISORY ROLES
Anna has provided strategic consulting to a range of organizations, including Corporate Accountability, one of the nation’s longest standing defenders of public health and the environment in the face of corporate abuse. She is a founding Steering Committee member of the Castanea Fellowship and serves on the board of the Food and Farm Communications Fund. She is also an active board member of the Rainforest Action Network and of the San Francisco Bay Area writer’s retreat, the Mesa Refuge. In addition, she serves as an advisor to numerous initiatives, including the Food Chain Workers Alliance and Civil Eats and is a champion for progressive food and farming policy at the local, state, and national level.
PHILANTHROPIC ENGAGEMENT
Anna works with a range of foundations, individual donors, and funder affinity networks to deepen resources for grassroots organizations and BIPOC-led social movements and to share strategy to increase the support for food justice and agroecology efforts in the United States and around the world. Since the publication of her first book, Hope’s Edge, more than twenty years ago, Anna has spoken at more than 600 events, from emceeing a Sotheby’s benefit for food justice non-profit to keynoting international conferences, and hosting a community meal cooked with food scavenged from Dumpsters. From Brown University to UC California, Anna also loves opportunities to engage with students about critical food studies themes, from climate and agricultural systems to social movements for food sovereignty to the history of public relations and food industry spin.
