The Color of Food is a multimedia project and photodocumentary book created by Natasha Bowens (Brown.Girl.Farming.) to amplify, celebrate and preserve the stories of Black, Latino, Indigenous & Asian farmers and food activists.
Natasha Bowens is an author, beginning farmer and activist who focuses on building empowerment and community with food and storytelling. She’s spent the past five years gathering stories and portraits of farmers and food activists of color for her book, The Color of Food: Stories of Race, Resilience and Farming. She started The Color of Food in 2010 after exploring race and agriculture on her blog Brown.Girl.Farming. and for Grist magazine. Her work’s now garnered media attention such as The Atlantic, Bill Moyers and Mother Earth News.
